Church Re-Opening Guideline Instructions

Dear Friends:
Beverly UMC is Re-Opening it’s church doors on Sunday February 21st at 10 am worship service all are invited. We invite you to join us for worship. Please note that we are still in midst of the pandemic and urge you to follow the safety protocols provided in the guideline Video on our church website at https://youtu.be/cqe1bImiJfU
Your safety is our number one concern.  As such, and in compliance with State and Federal directives, attendance at church will differ from the past.  Please note the following:

See a short Video for instructions

GENERAL:
• If you do not feel well, or have a temperature, please STAY AT HOME.
• If you are from a "high risk" group as identified by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) (i.e. chronic kidney disease, COPD, immunocompromised state, obesity, serious heart condition, sickle cell disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, or any other conditions identified by the CDC) please take this into consideration and use your best judgement if you should physically attend church at this time.
• We will be live streaming church service for people to watch from home.

ARRIVAL:
• If possible, please do not arrive before 9:45am.  This will give us time to prepare for the 10am service.
• You will enter using the side door of the church (under the overhang).  Lines will be placed six feet apart on the approach to this entrance to help with social distancing.  Please do not congregate at the entrance.
• Please wear your mask or other face covering.
• At the door you will be greeted by a volunteer who will be wearing a mask and disposable gloves.  This volunteer will provide you with hand sanitizer and, if necessary, a face mask if you forgot to bring one.
• You will enter the Sanctuary by the door near the altar and be directed to your seat.  Seating is being structured in a pattern that will place six feet between your family and others.  Please follow the ushers directions.
• We ask that you utilize our online system for your offering.  Should this not be convenient we will have a plate at the entrance and exit of the church for you to place your offering in.  We will not be passing the plate during service.
• In the unlikely chance that we reach our allowed capacity for the Sanctuary (which is currently set at 50 people) we will look to arrange space in Schwalber Hall where the service will be live streamed on a screen or television for the overflow crowd.  If that is not available we will ask for volunteers to leave the service to make room or respectfully ask you to watch the service from home.

WORSHIP EXPERIENCE:
• The order of worship will be laid out by our worship committee and may be a little different.
• All items (i.e. hymnals, bibles, pens, envelopes, etc.) are being removed from the pews.  Please use the projection screens to follow along with the service.
• We will not be handing out bulletins at this time.
• Please keep your mask on through the entire service.
• We would ask that you refrain from singing at this time.  While we know this can be difficult there have been reported cases of singing increasing the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
• Please do not leave your pew during the service.  If you must get up to use the bathroom please use the one located upstairs next to Fellowship Hall.  Disinfecting wipes will be provided so that you can wipe down the sink and any surfaces you may touch.  Directions will be listed in the bathroom.
• Please do not greet people through physical contact (i.e. handshake, hug, etc.).
• Please do not pass around any items.
• For those Sunday's that we celebrate Communion we will be using single serve "packets" that hold both a wafer and juice.  They will be distributed by either the Pastor or a volunteer that is wearing gloves.  Garbage cans will be available at the exit to throw away the wrapper.

LEAVING:
• At the completion of service you will be asked to exit through the front entrance (big red doors) of the church.  Ushers will assist in having pews leave row by row so as to avoid any congestion at the exit.
• Please don't leave anything behind.
• There will not be any fellowship activities following service at this time.  If you wish to talk with people outside on the front lawn or parking lot please stay six feet apart.

OTHER INFORMATION:
• There bill be no nursery or Sunday School at this time.  Please plan accordingly.
• We will be disinfecting the Sanctuary and all other surfaces you may come in contact with between services.  This will be accomplished either with disinfecting wipes (bathroom, door handles) or with a "sprayed" solution of Hypochloric Acid (HOCL).  This solution, which is approved by the EPA as a disinfectant, is made up of water, salt and distilled vinegar which goes through a process of electrolysis.  This solution is non-toxic and we have purchased a device to make this "in house".  HOCL is currently being used in the health care and other settings for disinfecting purposes.

We truly appreciate your patience as we take steps necessary to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.  We will make revisions as needed based on guidance we receive from the GNJUMC and the State of New Jersey.
Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to share them with Pastor Anna or anyone from Administrative Council.

Thank you and God Bless,
